Job Description

Our client is a long-established organisation which helps long-term unemployed people and back into work. This includes regular work with disadvantaged members of the community.

Due to expansion they are looking for a Tutor for their Newham site.

The role revolves around delivering training programmes; these courses are aimed at preparing clients to apply for vacancies, and ultimately to return to work. This will also include promoting your training and products both internally and externally. You will also be identifying training needs, and employers requirements. This will be through regular meetings with internal advisors and with employers.

You should have experience of working in a target driven environment, and of managing your own work, for instance creating lesson plans, or filling courses with delegates.

In addition, you should have a commitment to the new preliminary qualification Teaching for Life Long Learning (which you must must start working towards in the first year of appointment) OR A minimum of two years experience of delivering courses / working in a training environment OR A recognised teaching/training qualification or studying for one (City and Guilds 704/Train the Trainer/NVQ Facilitation of Workshops

It would be ideal if you have a recognised teaching qualification, such as Certificate of Education (Cert. Ed) or Post-Graduate Certificate in education (PGCE), or perhaps a degree in a relevant subject such as teaching or languages. Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Trainer on a welfare to work contract or publicly funded services, would also be an advantage.

Applications from candidates who are fluent in community languages are welcomed; these may include Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Somali, Vietnamese, Dari, Yoruba, Turkish, French, Spanish, Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Farsi, Gujerati, Polish, Serbian and Greek (dependent on programme).
