Mechanical Design Engineer
Colchester, Essex
£35,000 - £45,000 DOE Plus Company Pension, Healthcare Scheme, Private Health Insurance, Relocation Allowance
Our client is a world leader in the design and development of high performance computer products based on Intel CPU technology. Established in 1985, they predominately serve the telecoms, military and aerospace markets. An opportunity has now arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will work closely with electronics and board layout engineers at all the different stages of board development, for both rugged and more benign environments.
The design team operates in a small company environment, which means that each design is completed by an individual engineer. As such, you will rapidly become involved with all aspects of the product design and development.
To be considered for this position, you must be an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with the following:
- a degree (or equivalent) at 2:2 or higher, in an engineering or scientific discipline
- experience of designing thermal and mechanical packaging for electronic circuit boards
Additionally, as a Mechanical Design Engineer you should be an independent self-starter, able to plan and carry out your work with little supervision and with the ability to deliver effective results in short timescales.
Whilst not essential, experience with any of the following would be beneficial to your application:
- SolidWorks and Thermal Modelling Software
- designing heat sinking solutions for electronic hardware
- designing for shock and vibration environments
