Our Client, a major player in their chosen markets, is continuing to expand its business and as part of their growth plans are seeking to recruit an experienced Development Underwriter.
The role
This role will be responsible for finding, developing and growing High Net Worth Personal Lines new business opportunities within the region and actively identifying opportunities to cross-sell and build the whole business.
Key responsibilities
• Underwrite consistently and profitability
• Develop close, effective relationships with brokers
• Effectively negotiate with both internal and external parties including identified points of contact with a brokerage
• Regularly visit broker partners and write their business
• Act as a point of referral for chosen product lines (Product Expert)
• Identify and challenge non-standard underwriting decisions within the Technical Underwriting Guide with a reasoned referral to a product expert or underwriting manager
• Identify non performing broker accounts in terms of overall profitability, retention and new business ratios and take remedial steps to improve this business
Key requirements
• Recent and relevant development underwriting experience
• ACII qualification or progression towards qualification
• Demonstrable drive, self motivation and determination to achieve results
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a proven track record of relationship management and customer focus
• Strong influencing, negotiation and leadership skills
• Outgoing and confident
