    Our client is currently seeking a Manufacturing Development Engineer - (Mechanical)

    OVERVIEW:
    Responsible for creating and developing solutions to technical problems.

    MAIN DUTIES:-- transferring (early stage) laboratory concepts into low cost products designed for high volume production,-- identifying appropriate high volume processes for novel product,-- anticipate requirements of eventual CEM and input them into product development stages as needed,-- liaise with suppliers and develop working relationships to ensure overall project timescales are met,-- validate chosen processes and improve design details to ensure process capability within the desired cost parameters,-- consider QA requirements of manufacturer and prepare required data to design appropriate system,-- write reports and presentations to document findings,-- travel to suppliers' and client's premises or other meeting venues both within the UK & abroad.

    COMPETENCIES:
    Essential:-- Solid knowledge of modern manufacturing processes, specifically: moulding, assembly and metal forming-- Wide practical workshop experience-- QA systems-- 3D CAD-- Hands-on problem solving abilities-- Teamwork-- Self motivation and an ability to operate with minimal supervision

    Desirable:-- Detailed knowledge of design for manufacture -- Commercial experience, especially in a consultancy or engineering context-- Creativity-- Good mathematical/analytical skills-- Able to work from first principles


    QUALIFICATIONS-- A solid first degree in engineering-- Sufficient experience in manufacturing-- IMechE would be advantageous [or a desire to undertake it]
