Our client is currently seeking a RF Engineer to design on-chip passive components and develop simulation tools.
Key Responsibilities: *On-chip passive component design. Examples include inductors, transformers, baluns, capacitors and interconnect lines. *Simulation of passive structures using 3D and 2.5D field-solving simulators. *Setting up test benches, analysing simulation data and comparing it to measured data. *Building equivalent lumped models, based on simulation and measured data, for passive and active networks. *Investigation and simulation of coupling mechanisms between two or more on-chip passive structures. *Investigation and simulation of packaging to quantify interaction between packaging and on-die structures. *Providing layout and floor-planning guidance and support to analogue/RF designers. *Calibration of field solver simulation setup against measured data provided by the foundry. *Development of source code to integrate simulation tools into a common design environment. *Cadence: simulation and layout for test chips. *Measurement of test chips - wafer level and board level.
Person Specification: Required: *Masters or Ph.D in electronics, or equivalent experience *Sound knowledge of electromagnetic theory and 3D electromagnetic field solvers. *Experienced in RF engineering skills: component level, circuit level, system level, and propagation. *Familiar with simulation tools (Ansoft Designer, HFSS, Agilent Momentum, Spice simulators) *Familiar with RF measurement instruments, measurement methods, calibration and de-embedding methods. Desired: *Knowledge of AutoCAD, Matlab, high-level languages. *Experienced in using Cadence. *Excellent written & verbal communication skills *Excellent problem solving skills *Self-starter who has the ability to identify and exploit new opportunities. *Can play a leading role in technology development
